Rainwater Harvesting Dorset

On average every person in the UK uses approximately 160 litres of drinking water each day, of this up to a staggering 50% need not be drinking water. With water bills anticipated to rise by 5% a year for the next 5 years there is no better time to consider harvesting the rainwater that falls directly onto the roofs of our homes.

rainwaterhog-threePut simply rainwater harvesting is the collection from roofs and storage of rainwater that would otherwise disperse directly into our gutters and consequently be lost into a drain or septic tank. This rainwater from our roofs is a valuable commodity and if harvested can be used for watering the garden as well as for flushing toilets, washing clothes and cleaning the car.

Not only do rainwater harvesting systems generate sufficient environmental benefits through reducing mains water supply demand, it also considerably reduces storm water runoff, an issue currently at the forefront of planning law.

rainwaterhogsThere is a multitude of rainwater harvesting systems available to choose from, which can all be adapted to suit your individual needs. They come in all different shapes, sizes and colours and range from simple above ground tanks which can be bolted to your house or laid under decking to complete underground systems with integrated filtration and pumping technologies.
